Ms. Jamie Caldwell is the backbone to Vista Academy’s Sports Medicine Program. Through Ms. Caldwell’s  dedication and expertise, High School students get an incredible opportunity to learn the ins and outs of Sports medicine- a career in high demand at the moment. Students in the program will take 4 classes in this pathway: Intro to Sports Medicine, Sports medicine 1, Sports Medicine 2, and Sports Medicine 3 (Internship).

Ms. Caldwell’s students learn the basics of first aid and sports related injuries.  Most have already earned a certificate in CPR and First Aid from the American Heart Association as well as evaluation, and prevention of athletic injuries.

Students learn everything from weight lifting to nutrition to rehabilitation.  Advanced students are placed in exciting Internships with Athletic Trainers, Personal Trainers, Physical Therapists, and Orthopedic surgeons where they receive “real world experience” as part of their education at Vista.

 

Ms. Caldwell has been an athletic trainer for 10+ years – from the high school level to the semi-pro.  She holds an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Metropolitan State College, and a graduate degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.  As a sidline, she has worked in doctor’s offices putting her knowledge into practice.
